Her
Story

Joanne Young, the mother of Paseo Aquatics founding partner and Head Coach, Chris Dahowski, epitomized unwavering support and dedication to the sport of swimming. Her legacy of love and commitment shines through the Joanne Young Memorial Scholarship Fund, aimed at fostering talent and offering hope to deserving families.

As a devoted mother, Joanne dedicated two decades of her life in Pennsylvania to nurturing the swimming careers of her children, Diane Dahowski and Chris Dahowski, along with supporting her son Don Dahowski's football endeavors. Her passion for swimming led her to actively contribute to various clubs, including Dallastown High School, York Suburban, and the renowned swimming program at York YMCA.

Joanne's presence at swim meets was unmistakable, whether she was tirelessly manning concession stands or orchestrating fundraising efforts like the beloved funnel cake station at the York Street Fair. Her selflessness and boundless love propelled the success of the teams her children were part of, leaving an indelible mark on the community.

Even after her children graduated and pursued collegiate swimming, Joanne remained a steadfast supporter, attending meets and offering unwavering encouragement. Her belief in the power of swimming as a transformative experience for youth was unwavering, exemplified by her quiet but impactful financial contributions to Paseo Aquatics.

In honor of Joanne's humanitarian spirit and her enduring influence on the club and the sport, Paseo Aquatics proudly announces the establishment of the Joanne Young Memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund aims to remove financial barriers, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to embrace the joys of swimming, education, water safety, and competition.
