My Story
Meet Ryan Ratliff, a dedicated swim coach with a lifelong passion for swimming and mentoring young athletes. Originally from Eldersburg, Maryland, Ryan began his swimming journey at the age of seven with the South Carroll Swim Club, laying the foundation for a career defined by dedication and achievement.

Ryan honed his skills under Coach Scott Ward with Eagle Swim Team, where he developed the technical fundamentals and work ethic that propelled him to collegiate swimming. As a distance swimmer for the University of Alabama, Ryan trained under legendary coaches including Dennis Pursley, Chris Collier, Jonty Skinner, Coley Stickels, and Reed Fujan. These experiences instilled in him not only advanced techniques in swimming but also the principles of perseverance, discipline, and teamwork. At Alabama, Ryan also excelled academically, pursuing studies in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and earning a spot on the President's Dean’s List for his exceptional performance.

After retiring from competitive swimming due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ryan transitioned into a successful career in real estate in Miami. Recently, Ryan and his partner, Julia, made the exciting decision to move back to California to embrace new opportunities and continue their journey together.

As a coach, Ryan embraces the latest advancements in swimming techniques and integrates life coaching principles to guide young adults and kids toward achieving their personal and athletic goals. His focus on innovation and holistic development sets him apart in the coaching community.

Outside of coaching, Ryan finds joy in the companionship of his two beloved dogs, Chief and Rain, who he affectionately calls the yin and yang of his life. Their unique personalities bring balance and happiness to his everyday life, and he’s never shy to share their stories in conversation.

With a wealth of experience, a commitment to fostering growth, and a passion for empowering the next generation, Ryan Ratliff is dedicated to shaping swimmers into athletes and individuals prepared for success in and out of the pool.
