My Story

Eric Butler's swimming journey commenced in his hometown of La Crescenta-Montrose, California, where he showcased remarkable talent in butterfly and freestyle events during his tenure at Crescenta Valley High School and Los Angeles Valley College. Excelling in the pool laid the foundation for his seamless transition into coaching, driven by a deep-rooted passion for the sport.

Over the span of more than two decades, Butler has left an indelible mark on numerous swim teams across Southern California. Noteworthy accomplishments include steering Crescenta-Canada YMCA to triumph as Southern California YMCA Swim League Champions from 2010 to 2012, and orchestrating St. Matthew's Middle School's ascent to Pacific Basin League Championships glory from 2012 to 2015.

Central to Butler's coaching philosophy is the belief in unlocking each swimmer's full potential by prioritizing proper technique and nurturing essential life skills conducive to personal development. He cultivates a supportive team environment through innovative initiatives like Fun Friday and Team Cheers, fostering an atmosphere where swimmers flourish both in and out of the water.

Holder of certifications as an American Red Cross Lifeguard/Instructor and a USA Swimming ASCA Level 2 Coach, Butler's commitment to coaching excellence is unwavering. Though his coaching commitments keep him occupied, he finds solace in his passion for music, having attended over 250 concerts in the past two decades. Reflecting his outlook on coaching and life, his favorite quote, "Love the life you live and live the life you love" by Bob Marley, encapsulates his enthusiasm for both endeavors.

Eric Butler concurrently serves in dual roles as an American Red Cross Lifeguard/Instructor and an ASCA Level 2 Coach.
